Using photography and film as research methods, my current work explores my Welsh heritage using language and is based on a historical event. This moment in history is Tryweryn, a village in North Wales flooded to create a reservoir in the 1960's. My work involves recreating memorialised rocks found beside the lake. 'I'r Gad', 'Brad' and 'Ni ildiwn fyth' which means 'To Battle', 'Betrayal' and 'We will never surrender' is a response to the political thoughts of myself and Welsh society to what happened to the village of Capel Celyn through the medium of the Welsh language. The work intends to keep the history alive, educating people on Welsh history and its importance.
